The women’s basketball U-16 national team are through to the final of the FIBA European Championship Division C after brushing aside Wales 61-33 in a one-sided semi-final in Gibraltar.

Sandro Farrugia’s girls were all over their opponents right from the outset, winning the first session with a remarkable 16-2 scoreline.

Wales did step up their game in the second quarter but the Maltese still held the edge at half-time as they headed into the interval 29-15 ahead.

From then on, the Maltese easily maintained the upperhand as they continued to increase their advantage to canter home to a crushing victory.

Britney Agius and Anthea Micallef were Malta's leading scorers with 11 points.
