Seven triathletes will be representing Malta in the forthcoming International Triathlon Union's World Triathlon Grand Final to be held between Wednesday  and September 15 in London.

The Triathlon Malta contingent will consist of current Triathlon champion Keith Galea, Hannah Pace, both medal winners in the European Triathlon Union Championships held in Alanya, Turkey in June, duathlon champion Michelle Vella Wood, triathlon champion Danica Bonello Spiteri, Graham Borg, Luke Bonnici and Maria Vella-Galea.

The Maltese team will be competing in the sprint (750m swim, 20km cycle, 5km run) and standard (1.5k swim, 40km cycle, 10km run) distances covering the same route as that covered in the London Olympics last year. The contingent will be led by Malta Triathlon Federation President Cyprian Dalli.

Bringing together over 3,000 international competitors, a further 2,000 open age group athletes, support teams and officials, the grand final will seal off the ITU World Triathlon Series which featured world-class events all around the globe in which elite triathletes compete annually to become the ITU World Champion.

“We are very excited to have such a strong presence at this event, which is the pinnacle of triathlon competition worldwide. Our athletes have been fully committed in their preparation for this event, and apart from making Malta proud we are confident that they will make the most of their international experience in London” said Cyprian Dalli

Cyprian Dalli and secretary general Maria Vella-Galea will also be attending the annual International Triathlon Union Congress on September 16, which will be attended by over 135 delegates, representing federations from all over the world.

The congress is the general assembly of the members national federations and continental confederations of ITU and is its highest authority.
