Foreign Minister George Vella will be inaugurating Malta's consulate in Kuwait on Wednesday during an official visit.

The setting up of the consulate forms part of the External Border Fund project maximising Malta’s capacity to issue visas, currently being managed by the ministry.

The aim of these projects is to set up different consular offices in various continents to continue Malta’s outreach in different countries while stepping up the security requirements needed in order to be in line with the Schengen requirements.

The ministry set up the consulate within the recently established embassy in the State of Kuwait and made all necessary changes to meet Schengen best practice requirements.

During his visit in Kuwait, Dr Vella will have talks with various personalities focusing on enhancing the bilateral relationships between the two countries as well as an exchange on issues of concern in the respective regions.

He will be accompanied by Ambassador Joe Mangion and Helga Mizzi, director general at the Ministry for Foreign Affairs.
