The Central Bank of Malta has signed a borrowing agreement with the International Monetary Fund through which Malta will provide €120 million to the Fund, ForexTV.com has reported.

The IMF has also signed similar agreement with the National Bank of Belgium for €4.74 billion and Slovakia, which will provide €440 million,

The agreement is part of a commitment made by the European Union in March 2009 to contribute up to €75 billion to support the IMF's lending capacity. The European Union has since committed an additional €50 billion to the Fund's expanded New Arrangements to Borrow.
