It is now evident that climate change is taking place. It is thought that this is due to human activities, mainly the burning of fossil fuels and deforestation, resulting in increasing levels of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere, which is causing global warming.

At present, the human species is using natural resources in an unsustainable manner. Unless serious action is taken in the next few decades to mitigate climate change a future environmental catastrophe may occur. The future of humanity may be at risk.

A shift to renewable energy sources, conservation of biodiversity and control of human population growth through education are important issues that should be dealt with.

The common good, based on respect for human dignity, respect for human rights and respect for the environment, should be the guiding principle for decisions and actions, which aim to safeguard our planet from a potential environmental disaster as a result of climate change.
