Malta's 12-month average rate of inflation is among the highest in the euro area, Eurostat figures issued today show.

The 12-month average rate was 3.1 per cent in Malta. Hungary had the highest 12-month average at 4.9 per cent, followed by Estonia at 4.0 per cent, Romania at 3.9 and Slovakia at 3.3 per cent.

Eurostat said Euro area inflation was 1.7% in March 2013, down from 1.8% in February. It was 1.1 in Malta from 2.6 per cent in March last year.
