Malta has qualified for Saturday’s final of the Eurovision Song Contest.

The band Firelight were first on stage in the second semi-final in Denmark this evening and put in a polished, well received performance with their song Coming Home.

Home Affairs Minister Manuel Mallia congratulated the group and wished it well for the final.

The finalists, chosen by national juries and televoting, were announced in random order as follows:  Switzerland, Slovenia, Poland, Romania, Norway, Greece, Malta, Belarus, Finland and Austria.

The countries which qualified in the first semi-final on Tuesday were: Montenegro, Hungary, Russia, Armenia, Azerbaijan, San Marino, Ukraine, Sweden, the Netherlands and Iceland.

They join the Big Five - Britain, Spain, Germany, France, Italy and last year's winner Denmark.
