The Malta Police Force will be benefiting from over €550,000 of EU funding.

The Ministry of Home Affairs said the funds will be used for the purchase of bullet-proof vests and communication equipment.

Minister for Home Affairs Carmelo Abela said funds would also be allocated for the provision of security systems to deter crime and combat cross-border organised crime. 

Parliamentary Secretary for EU Funds Ian Borg said Malta will be investing around €100 million under the Internal Security Fund, which aims to improve internal security and border controls.
