The following are the top stories in the Maltese newspapers today.

The Sunday Times of Malta reports that Education Minister Evarist Bartolo’s person of trust and former canvasser, who is being investigated on corruption allegations, hand-delivered nearly €9 million worth of cheques to tens of contractors and suppliers involved in works at government schools over the last three years.

In related stories, Il-Mument says Mr Bartolo's canvasser, Edward Caruana, built a block of apartments in Gozo in less than a year.

MaltaToday says the police are probing links between Edward Caruana, the building of the apartment block, and phantom works in Gozo. 

The Malta Independent on Sunday says the court never issued any decree for parts of the Henley IIP contract not to be published. It also reports that Brussels has confirmed that Air Malta cannot get any more state aid. 

It-Torċa reports that there has been an increase of homeless people, and people living in garages. 

Illum recounts the plight of children who are given the cold shoulder by their peers because their relatives are in prison. The newspaper also reports on benefit fraud case by an Education Department employee certified by a doctor as unable to work for 40 hours, when she works for 60 elsewhere.
