The Malta Kennel Club has become an accepted registry of the American Kennel Club by the Board of the American Kennel Club.

The American Kennel Club evaluated the history of the registry at the Malta Kennel Club, its procedures and statistical base together with the MKC's international affiliations.

The American Kennel Club has also approved two pedigrees issued by the Malta Kennel Club under the kennel name of Bassjoy which has exported two Basset hounds.
