Malta’s promotion in the German market continued last Wednesday with a business workshop in Munich organised by Malta Enterprise.

Held with the support of the German Chamber of Commerce and the Maltese embassy, the workshop focused on increasing the awareness about the opportunities Malta offers as a business location, even to small and medium-sized business.

The event was attended by more than 40 participants from a range of sectors, including ICT, financial services, banking and consultancy, biotechnology, logistics, and the automotive and aircraft industries. Malta Enterprise’s representative in Germany Sonja Winner and Ambassador Karl Xuereb outlined the benefits of investing in Malta and the success achieved by German companies who operate on the island.

There were presentations on Malta’s fiscal and tax regime and others by Friedhelm Forge of the Munich Chamber of Commerce, and by Ruprecht von Uckermann, an Ernst and Young consultant.

Uwe Niekrawietz, managing director of UWT, the mother company of Malta-based Adpro-Instruments Ltd, gave a first-hand testimonial. Adpro produces highly specialised indicators for bulk goods at Corradino industrial estate.

The workshop in Munich was the fifth to be organised this year in Germany, one of the Malta’s main sources for foreign investment, following events in Dresden, Karlsruhe, Leipzig and Frankfurt.

The audience in Munich was the largest in this year’s workshops, in view of Munich’s highly industrial and commercial nature.
