The Malta International Music Festival 2018 will be held between tomorrow and May 1, featuring highly-acclaimed musicians and a rich, varied programme, including orchestral concerts.

The festival opens tomorrow at 8pm with a concert at Robert Samut Hall, Floriana, by  the Cosmopolitan Trio of Vienna, formed by Austrian violinist Elisabeth Kropfitsch, Indian pianist Marialena Fernandes and Korean cellist Meehae Ryo.

On Monday at 8pm, there will be a gala concert at the Republic Hall, Mediterranean Conference Centre, Valletta, by soloists of the Armenian State Symphony Orchestra, led by maestro Sergei Smbatyan, and of the Malta Philharmonic Orchestra.

Rebecca Hall (flute), Britt Arend (harp) and Etienne Coutajar (horn) from the MPO will perform solo in Mozart’s and Richard Strauss’ opuses. Carmine Lauri (violin), an international star and soloist with the London Symphony Orchestra, will solo in the virtuoso concerto by Henryk Wieniawski.
