The Maltese High Commission in London has reopened and it is 'business as usual today', a spokesman for the Foreign Ministry said.

He said the High Commission closed late yesterday afternoon for a very brief period on instructions from the Metropolitan Police, who feared an upsurge of violence in Piccadilly.

As it turned out, London was quiet last night, although there were riots in Manchester and Birmingham.

The Foreign Ministry is monitoring developments in the UK but no properties belonging to Maltese have been damaged.
