The Maltese High Commission owes the London authorities £360,225 in parking fines, according to figures given in the House of Commons. They are the result of 3,087 fines.

The figures were given by the Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs Mark Simmonds, who updated Parliament on the value of unpaid Congestion Charge debt incurred by diplomatic missions and international organisations in London since its introduction in February 2003 until December 31, 2013.

He said he had been advised by Transport for London that a total of £75,364,182 was due.

The highest outstanding amount is 8.1 million sterling due by the US Embassy, The Japanese embassy owes 5.6 million.
