Malta and Greece yesterday signed an agreement through which both countries pledged to work together in search and rescue missions and for personnel from both countries to carry out training activities together.

The two countries also agreed to make craft and personnel available according to their respective needs.

The agreement was signed by Foreign Affairs Minister Michael Frendo and Greek Deputy Foreign Affairs Minister Yannis Valinakis at Palazzo Parisio in Valletta.

Mr Valinakis thanked the Government for the collaboration it always showed Greece and he praised Malta's proposal for structured dialogue with the Arab League.

The first such meeting is set to take place in Malta between February 11 and 12.

Dr Frendo thanked the Greek Government for its participation in Frontex and said the agreement underlined the excellent relations between the two countries.
