The studies into the possibility of having a bridge or a tunnel to link Malta and Gozo have been widened to include other alternatives, Gozo Minister Anton Refalo told Nationalist MP Chris Said in reply to a parliamentary question.

Dr Said had asked whether the governemnt still intended to hold a referendum in Gozo so that the people could decide whether to have a bridge or a tunnel.

The minister said the studies were still under way and had been broadened to include alternatives to this project.  He did not give further details.

Answering another PQ by Dr Said, Dr Refalo said the government was undertaking all the necessary studies with a view to launching a fixed wing service between the two islands.
