The second edition of the Malta Global Game Jam will be held at the University of Malta’s Institute of Digital Games between Friday and next Sunday.
Maltese and international game designers, programmers, artists, musicians and others will join some 25,000 other participants in the global event, collaborating on innovative game projects that will be distributed to players around the world.
The keynote speech will be given by internationally renowned game journalist Leigh Alexander, whose presence brings the Malta Global Game Jam into the international limelight. Mr Alexander is editor of Gamasutra and has written for Time, The Guardian and Slate, among other publications.
Also speaking on Friday afternoon will be game developer and critic Pippin Barr, and young Maltese game designers David Chircop and Yannick Massa, whose board game won the popular vote at last year’s Malta Global Game Jam. It went on to hit first place on Board Game Geek’s hotness list and scored highly in multiple categories in Entropy Magazine’s Best of 2014 list.
It even travelled to the premier board game trade convention in Essen, Germany.
The event starts on Friday at 3pm and is free and open to the public until 8pm.
Registration to participate in the 48-hour game jam is €30 and places are strictly limited.
