Malta 81
Wales 43

(21-4, 12-12, 22-13, 26-14)

Rebecca Brincat Thoresen hit 18 points, Ashleigh Vella added 17 and Stephanie De Martino 16 as the Maltese team chalked up their second group win at the European Championship Division C after cruising to an 81-43 victory over Wales in Armenia, yesterday.

The Maltese girls were in a class of their own and practically made sure of victory with a fine showing in the opening quarter that gave them an advantage of 17 points.

The Welsh improved in the second quarter but Santino Coppa's girls clicked back into gear after the changeover to wrap up the win that secured Malta top spot in Group B.

Malta, the Euro Division C holders, face Moldova in the semi-finals tomorrow.
