FOI executive Cecilia Vella last Friday met John Farrugia of the Consulate of Malta based in Singapore to discuss trade-related issues between Malta and Singapore, with both entities resolved to study investment and trade opportunities of mutual benefit to business operators in both countries.

Among the opportunities highlighted were the possibility of the setting up of joint ventures in Malta, particularly for foreign companies aiming to target the European or southern Mediterranean basin; the establishment of branch offices in Singapore for Maltese business operators; and the importation of raw materials from Singapore, particularly for the plastic and rubber manufacturing firms located in Malta.
