The president of the Malta Boxing Commission has denied he has been removed from his position as was claimed in a statement yesterday, signed by vice-president Gianluca Rio Di Caro.
In a statement today signed by president Alexander Zammit, who was supposedly removed, the commission denied issuing yesterday’s statement and said that it had actually sacked Mr Di Caro.
In his statement yesterday, Mr Di Caro claimed that Mr Zammit had disregarded a due diligence on two applications for promoter licences.
But Mr Zammit said today that among the many issues the MBC had with Mr Di Caro, were his efforts to actively stop the issue of a promoter’s license.
