Malta supports Montenego’s bid to join the EU, Foreign Minister George Vella said today after meeting Montenegro’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Foreign Affairs Igor Luksic in Valletta.

Malta, he said, was not only supporting  Montenegro’s application to the EU but would share its accession experience.

The two ministers signed a memorandum of understanding which will be a framework to facilitate regular consultations on aspects of bilateral relations and for a regular exchange of views on international issues of mutual interest, including the possibility of joint initiatives.

The MoU also covers bilateral cooperation between diplomatic services covering the areas of training and education. 

Malta, through the Mediterranean Academy for Diplomatic Studies has offered training to Montenegrin diplomats.
