Malta Amateurs gained their first win in the 2008/09 UEFA Regions Cup (Group One) yesterday after they edged past Kempen (Belgium) 1-0.

Birżebbuġa striker Ronnie Celeste hit an 85th-minute winner for the Maltese selection who lost 2-1 to Northern Ireland Eastern Regions in their opening match in Duisburg, Germany.

Yesterday's narrow win kept the Malta Amateurs, under the guidance of coach Mark Falzon, in contention to top the group. The Maltese side play their third and final match against Germany's FV Niederhein tomorrow.
