Malta has ranked 46th in the State of the World’s Mothers Report compiled by Save the Children.

The institute surveyed 179 countries on the basis of the lifetime risk to maternal death (Malta 8,300), the under 5 mortality rate (6.1 per 1,000), the expected number of years of formal schooling(14.4), the gross national income per capita ($20,980), and participation of women in national government (12.9).

The results for top scoring Norway were: lifetime risk to maternal death (14,900), the under 5 mortality rate (2.8 per 1,000), the expected number of years of formal schooling (17.5),the gross national income per capita ($102,610), and participation of woman in national government (39.6).
