The Home Affairs Minister, Manuel Mallia, is not reacting to Opposition leader Simon Busuttil’s claim that he had threatened to resign if the government introduced even a single day of residency in the citizenship scheme.

The minister made the comment during a meeting in the presence of MFSA chairman Joe Bannister, Justice Parliamentary Secretary Owen Bonnici, Nationalist MP Jason Azzopardi and PN official Karol Aquilina.

Questions sent to Dr Mallia’s office remained unanswered.

Confirming he was at the meeting, Dr Bonnici said he would not go into the conversations held and chided the Opposition for revealing what was said behind closed doors. (See above)
