The first matches from the main draw of the ITF U-18 world ranking tournament will be played this morning at the Marsa Sports Club, starting at 9.

In the boys' category, Malta U-16 champion Omar Sudzuka faces Ireland's G. Gilhawley while Clayton Zammit plays another Irish player, C. Fitzgerald.

Francesco Galea, who is based in Germany, has been drawn against Daniel Spurny, of Germany, while Italy's Antonio Terzo takes on Matthew Booker.

Matthew Asciak, seeded ninth, has been awarded a bye in the first round and will meet the winner of the match between K. Orlov, of Russia and Austria's M. Brunner tomorrow.

In the girls' section, Elaine Genovese, the Malta champion, and Alexia Valenzia also play their first round matches today. Kim Cassar, who is ranked 718th in the world and the no. 8 seed in the main draw, has received a first-round bye and will begin her commitments tomorrow.
