Qormi won this game thanks to a late Philip Magri goal.

The first half did not produce any fireworks although Qormi hit the post in the fifth minute. Young Stars countered by wasting a good chance of their own soon after.

This was followed by a long period of play in midfield with no team dominating proceedings.

In the second half, Qormi increased their pressure early on but both teams created a chance apiece.

The game sprang to life in the 57th minute when Young Stars were awarded a penalty stroke but Chris Attard failed to convert.

This could have been the turning point but when it looked as though the game was heading for a goalless stalemate, Qormi hit the winner three minutes from time.

Receiving a good pass inside the D, Magri flicked in from close range to settle a hard-fought game.

Young Stars forced a short corner in the dying seconds but to no avail.
