Magna Żmien is presenting a series of events titled ‘The Landings of the Magnificent Memories Machine’ in Mellieħa as part of the Valletta 2018 cultural programme this week.

The event, organised in collaboration with Solar Cinema and Mellieħa local council, will feature: a time-machine performance by Armchair voyager Wistin and the Banda ta’ Memorji Meraviljużi, a live sound and video installation by Timothy Garrett and Tiny Island Studio  and a short film programme on the subject of memories curated by Solar Cinema.

Magna Żmien is a movement to collect, convert and make available fading memories through the digitisation of sound and image home collections.

Since its inception, it has been carrying out research with the help of the local councils in four localities: Kalkara, Mellieħa, Siġġiewi and Victoria, encouraging locals to contribute their memories to the project. People from other localities are encouraged to participate.

Each event in the series will showcase curated content and artistic interpretations of local memories gathered from analogue sound and image home collections.

To submit your collection, visit   www.magnazmien.com or call 7706 0232.

This week’s event is being held at Misraħ iż-Żjara tal-Papa Ġwanni Pawlu II in Mellieħa, on Saturday at 8pm.
