Three men have admitted to stealing ornaments and household items from a shop in Qormi and were warned by the magistrate not to commit another crime as they risked going to prison.

Clayton Fiott, 23, Sergio Zerafa, 25, and Shaun Aquilina, 24, stole the items on December 13 from Leaf Ltd, which is on Mdina Road, Qormi.

After taking into consideration their clean police records, the fact that the items had been returned and that they were ready to testify against a third party, Magistrate Consuelo Scerri Herrera placed the three men under probation for two years. The magistrate also gave them a stern warning that they were playing with fire and could end up in prison if they continue this way.

Police Inspector Malcolm Bondin prosecuted.

Lawyers Anglu Farrugia appeared for Mr Aquilina, lawyer Veronique Dalli appeared for Mr Zerafa and lawyer Owen Bonnici appeared for Mr Fiott.
