Magistrate Carol Peralta has ordered an investigation and disciplinary action against prison officers after a prisoner was taken to court some 90 minutes late this morning.

Dr Peralta raised his concerns about prisoners being taken late to court when one of the inmates, Johann Pace, was escorted to court at 10.30 a.m. when he was meant to be there at 9 a.m.

Dr Peralta summoned prison officers and said he was expecting an explanation for such delays, which were happening too often.  He was also ordering an investigation and disciplinary action against whoever was involved. Such delays, he said, were unacceptable.
