World famous Maestro David Gimenez Carreras is to conduct the Michael Bolton-Joseph Calleja concert on the at Luxol Grounds on July 19. The concert will also bring together Malta's top musical talents such as Ivan Grech from Wintermoods and Chiara.

Maestro Gimenez and Calleja will be adding a touch of the classic to a concert where well-known, popular pieces will be the order of the evening. This is the first time that Bolton's well-known pop-style will be complemented by the Maltese tenor's equally well-known classical voice.

This will be the second time that the conductor is taking part in an event that is organised by NnG Promotions. Three years ago he performed to an enthusiastic Maltese audience during Jose Carreras' 2007 concert - the world famous tenor Carreras also happens to be Gimenez' uncle.

Maestro Gimenez Carreras has conducted worldwide prominent vocal and instrumental soloists on the the world famous podiums of Royal Albert Hall, Salle Pelyel Konzerthaus in Vienna and New York's Carnegie Hall, among others. His name is also tied to some of the most memorable performances by opera giants such as Placido Domingo, Roberta Alagna, Juan Pons and Bryn Terfel. During 2006/2007 Maestro Gimenez toured the Asia with performances in Tokyo, Osaka, Hong Kong and Tapei.

"I have very fond memories of my last performance in Malta 2007. This year's concert will undoubtedly prove to be an other exciting performance and I am looking forward to working with Joseph again. The participation of Michael Bolton is a novelty for me, a new experience that I am sure will delight the audience. Merging the sounds of a classical artist together with a pop musician will be an extremely interesting experience and I am looking forward to being part of this ground-breaking event" said Maestro Gimenez.

"We are pleased to welcome back the highly respected Maestro to the Maltese Islands. His experience and his innate talent make him the perfect choice when it comes to a concert with a difference, such as this one. Maestro Gimenez will undoubtedly bring out the best performance of all those involved" said Nigel Camillieri from NnG Promotions.

This is the first time that Joseph Calleja's annual local concert will veer away from a strictly classical performance as he teams up with Michael Bolton who will be performing here in Malta for the second time.
