A hail of gunfire from the historic cannon at the Saluting Battery in the Upper Barrakka Gardens, Valletta will mark the feast of St Paul tomorrow. A special programme has been organised for the day by Fondazzjoni Wirt Artna starting at 11 a.m. in a bid to rekindle the age-old custom of celebrating major religious feasts with gun salutes from forts and fortifications, as used to be done in the time of the Knights. The salute will start at midday with the firing of the noon-day gun followed by all other guns in sequence. Admission will be €5 for adults. For children and FWA members entrance is free.
