German airline Lufthansa said today it expects its fuel bill for 2015 to drop to 5.8 billion euros  from 6.7 billion euros in 2014 thanks to the recent slide in the price of oil.

It is currently 73 percent hedged for 2015, against 79 percent for 2014, the airline said in presentation slides made available on its website.

It also confirmed it expects 2014 operating profit of around 1 billion euros and 2015 earnings to be significantly above that.
