Pilots at Lufthansa will stage a four-day strike from April 13, the Cockpit trade union said today.

Talks with management have broken down and Lufthansa pilots have decided to join colleagues at the carrier's Germanwings affiliate and Lufthansa Cargo in striking to press for more job security and better pay, a union statement said.

Pilots decided to wait until after the Easter holiday to avoid causing serious disruption to passenger's travel plans, it added.

A four-day strike in late February by Lufthansa pilots was called off after one day after both sides agreed to sit back down for more negotiations.

In Britain meanwhile, British Airways cabin crew entered the final stage of a three-day strike today, in a dispute over planned changes to pay and conditions that has caused travel misery for thousands of passengers.
