The biannual Lufthansa Cargo Forum, attended by shippers and forwarding agents who best sell Lufthansa Cargo services, was held at Le Meridien, St Julian's.
The forum was hosted by Tony Mifsud, manager, Lufthansa Cargo Malta, and Thilo Schaefer, general manager, Sales and Handling, Italy and Malta. Issues relating to the airline industry, future export forecasts and logistics trends were discussed with German business ethics, coloured with the Maltese flair.
Thomas Egenolf, business development manager, Europe and Africa, who was invited by Mr Schaefer, gave an interesting presentation on the latest developments at Lufthansa Cargo and the future trends at this world-class airline.
Frederick Schembri, logistics manager at Methode Electronics, Malta, dwelt on the challenges facing the Malta-based automotive industry.
The air cargo customer satisfaction index, compiled by independent research companies, were shown, confirming Lufthansa Cargo's position as market leader in the Maltese market. Mr Mifsud and Mr Schaefer both expressed satisfaction at the interest shown by the local air cargo community and look forward to introduce new ideas in the field.
