Lufthansa and Brussels are offering code-share flights on selected long-haul routes as part of their agreement to expand their cooperation and open up their networks to each other's passengers.

The first jointly operated long-haul services are Brussels Airlines flights from Brussels to Entebbe, Uganda and the new Lufthansa connection from Frankfurt to Libreville, Gabon.

Flights on both these routes can be booked under the partner's flight number.

Lufthansa passengers can fly to Entebbe via Brussels under a Lufthansa flight number. Lufthansa does not operate its own flights to this destination in Uganda.

Likewise, Brussels Airlines passengers can fly to Libreville, the capital of Gabon, from Brussels via Frankfurt.

Lufthansa and Brussels Airlines will gradually offer more long-haul flights to Africa on a code-share basis.

In the long term, Lufthansa passengers will have a much wider choice of destinations in Africa, as Lufthansa plans to add further code-share routes with Brussels Airlines to its network.

Lufthansa and Brussels Airlines already operate code-share flights on all cross-border routes between Germany and Belgium and on selected routes in Europe.

Members of both airlines' frequent flyer programmes - Miles & More and Privilege - can already collect miles on all flights operated by Brussels Airlines and Lufthansa and redeem them for award flights.
