Labour MP Luciano Busuttil this afternoon suggested to fellow MP Marlene Farrugia that she should consider leaving the Labour parliamentary group - which has a nine-seat majority in parliament.

Dr Farrugia has been taking a stand against the government over plans to site the new university on virgin land in Marsascala.

Without specifically mentioning Dr Farrugia, Dr Busuttil wrote on Facebook: "If I ever go ballistic in public for the upteenth time against my party and its leader, who happens to be the Prime Minister, I would seriously consider leaving that Parliamentary Group, out of respect for the people who elected me, and my colleagues in that same group.

"Let us not forget that we are all elected because we run on a party ticket and not on our own behalf.

"I am just saying!"

In a reaction, Dr Farrugia said 'poor' Luciano Busuttil was irked by the truth.

"He prepares to stay silent and benefit than speak to the people and suffer! One has to wonder why he is speaking in this way, no?"
