The Globalair Summer League continued with two games last weekend.

In the first game, Nowell Khosla opened the bowling for Krishna and caused havoc with the main Melita batsmen. He bowled Andy Lenard, had Frank Spiteri lbw and Tim Edwards caught, ending with the best figures for his team - three wickets. All three Melita batsmen had only scored four runs each.

Justin Brooke made it to double figures before being bowled and John Rusher went one better, with 11 runs, before he too, was bowled.

Gordon Hewitt scored 13 and Tony Slater was run out on three. Jim Hunter top-scored with 14 and Patrick Brooke was two not out.

Melita played 20 overs but were bowled out on the last ball of the innings, on 94 runs with extras.

Krishna made light work of the run chase thanks to a fine batting performance by Khosla. He backed up his bowling with a fine knock of 63. Sam Dhandapani was the only wicket to fall on 24 runs. Junior Sanjay Dhandapani was the other unbeaten batsman.

Krishna got eight points for their victory while Melita got none.

The second game, Marsa-Overseas, was also another low-scoring affair.

Overseas batted first. Their top order were frustrated by the slow bowling of Sarfraz Ali and paid the ultimate price of being caught or stumped. Stuart Lloyd top-scored with 12 runs and next highest was Phil Gibbs with nine. Overseas were bowled out for 46 runs. Ali ended up with four wickets.

Marsa thought it was going to be an easy ride to reach their target. However, they had to sweat for the win, losing seven wickets in the process. Mark G. Sacco was the top scorer with 19 runs. The unlikely hero for Marsa was Walter Glynn who scored 12 runs to finish off the run chase.

For Overseas, Dax Fernandes took four wickets. Marsa got eight points for their victory and Overseas had to settle for one.
