The Lotto Receivers’ Union has filed a judicial protest calling for a meeting with the Finance Minister to discuss his promise that the latest call for tenders for the operation of national lotteries will not affect the conditions of lotto receivers.

In its protest, the union also called on preferred bidder Maltco Lotteries to hold a number of meetings with the union to ensure that the necessary arrangements to safeguard receivers’ conditions of work are in place.

The union noted that the receivers’ only income come from the commission on  their sale of Maltco products, which included many more products than those listed in the call for tenders, namely the national lottery, Super 5 and lotto.

The union also called on the Gaming Authority not to grant a licence to Maltco for these three games before an agreement is reached with the union.
