A juice extractor, two drones, an insuline kit and a fishing rod were among the found items handed in to the police between July 1 and December 31 last year.

Found items deposited at police stations also included a fishing rod, several mobile phones and iPads, rings, bracelets, wallets - with and without cash, cash and a child's handbag.

According to law, anyone finding lost property (the law specifically excludes “treasure troves”) is obliged to return it without delay to the original owner or deliver it to the police.

Anything the police receive is held for six months, after which, if it is not claimed by the original owner, ownership falls to the finder and, failing that, to the State.
