I must first of all apologise to all the people I made tentative plans to meet during my short visit there last week who ended up not even getting a phone call from me. The trip turned out to be a lot more hectic than I thought it was going to be and I only ticked off about a third of all the items on the list I made before leaving. These included a ftira at Buchmans in Gzira (an object of culinary desire I have been lusting after for about two years now), a visit to the Caravaggio exhibition (which, sadly, all who had been to told me not to bother with) and a quick meeting with the Editor. Unfortunately, it was a quick family visit and a lot of it was spent with family.

Back here, it's been a bit of a non-week. My biannual trip to Milan is looming ahead, so all I've been doing is making lists of things that I have to do before and when I get there. Two weeks is a long time away from home, especially when it's not a holiday, so the lists are quite long. And time is running out. There's a pile of clothes that needs dry cleaning and I've only got about 48 hours to go. Coming to think of it, I can get that done at the hotel once I get there - so that's one thing off the list.

Seeing as I'm going to be away for such a long time, Significant Other and I have planned a special day for tomorrow (I'm a day late with my copy this week, so for "tomorrow" read Saturday). We've booked ourselves nice things to do, including a trip to Tate Modern to see the Louise Bourgeois show. All quite necessary before locking myself into two weeks of factories and hotel rooms.

And it's going to be cold! Over here, the temperature has dropped (I can see frost on the neighbour's roof through my window - not quite the same as sitting al fresco having lunch in Senglea last Sunday!) and it's gone from "OK" to "OK, now-it's-cold!" I've been told it's going to be even worse there!

During my trip, I went to see a Miss Doris Harding, a dear relative of mine who is currently being cared for in Zammit Clapp Hospital. She has asked me to publicly thank all the nurses and the staff of the hospital for all their excellent work, and their care, particularly the physio section who have been such an essential part of her treatment. I am very happy to do so.
