The Malta Softball Team have just figured in a tournament that saw the participation of two UK teams - Great Britain Development Team and London Angels.

London Angels are a strong club and finished fifth in the European B Pool Cup last summer. The Great Britain Development Team were 10th in the overall classification in the ISF Euro/Africa Olympic qualifying round in Italy earlier this year.

Matches were played at the Marsa and Mellie?a fields. London Angels won the tournament after beating GB Development Team 9-3 in a decisive match, giving them the run difference advantage.

Great Britain dominated the first round and won two games.

The Angels hit back strongly in the second round with a massive win over the GB Development Team.

Arnold and MacMillan, of London Angels, led their team to victory after hitting .500 and .600 respectively.

MacMillan also drove in four runs as Great Britain pitcher Wisen produced an outstanding performance by posting a 3.33 Earned Run Average.

Malta's Fenech and C. Caruana performed well at the plate, each having a batting average of .500 and .400 respectively while driving in a run each.

National team manager Roberto Andolfi fielded a number of new faces during the tournament. He said he was satisfied with the team's performance and will continue working to rope in more younger players into the squad.

Results: London Angels vs Great Britain 6-8, Great Britain vs Malta 6-4, Great Britain vs London Angels 3-9, London Angels vs Malta 5-2, Malta vs London Angels 4-10.
