Trading in Lombard Bank shares opened on Monday at Lm3.40, 10c lower than the previous closing price. However, this was the lowest price for the whole week, as from then onwards, the relative share price experienced gains after gains.

Monday's session closed at Lm3.675, with 4,238 shares changing hands over six deals. Eight deals were struck on Tuesday, between the opening price of Lm3.70 and Lm3.75, the closing price, with turnover amounting to 13,610 shares. Wednesday's session saw 3,000 shares changing hands over four deals, between Lm3.792 and Lm3.799, the opening and closing prices respectively.

On Thursday, only two put-through deals amounting to 3,000 shares were effected. Yesterday, the last registration date for shareholders to receive dividends, saw trading surge in the equity. A total of 82,308 shares changed hands over 14 deals, with trading openening at Lm 3.78, going up by 15c1 to close at Lm3.95. Total increase over the week was of 55c, equal to 16.18 per cent. As the session drew to a close, 1,200 shares at Lm3.30 were the best outstanding bids, while best offers of 13,214 shares at Lm3.95 remained unsatisfied.

Bank of Valletta shares registered three deals during Monday's session. 700 shares were traded between the opening price of Lm2.74 and the closing price of Lm2.72. This was equal to a decrease of two cents on the previous reading. Tuesday's trading session saw 3,500 shares change hands on six deals. These were struck between Lm2.725 and Lm2.715, the closing price. During Wednesday's session, 10 deals for 6,620 shares were struck. Trading opened at Lm2.715 and went down to close at Lm2.70. The last session of the week for Bank of Valletta shares was Thursday, during which four deals for 484 were struck at Lm2.70. 180 shares at Lm2.68 and 1,764 shares at Lm2.70 were left as the best outstanding bids and offers respectively.

One deal was struck on Monday in Maltacom shares. This sole deal saw 500 shares change hands at Lm1.08, up by two cents on the previous close. The equity next traded yesterday, during which session 7,420 shares changed hands. Trading opened at Lm1.051 and went down to close at Lm1.045, down by 3c5 on the previous reading.

Following yesterday's session, best bids for 4,925 shares at Lm1.04 stood against best offers of 5,500 shares at Lm1.07.

HSBC shares witnessed four deals being struck on Monday, with trading taking place between Lm3.74 and the closing price of Lm3.75. Turnover amounted to 1,267 shares. Next trading on Thursday, 448 shares changed hands on two deals. The first was struck at Lm3.74, while the closing deal was executed at Lm3.72, bringing the closing price down by three cents. Yesterday's session saw HSBC reverse all the week's losses, with trading being struck between the opening price of Lm3.78 and the closing price at Lm3.95, up by 13c on the previous close, and by 21c on Monday's opening price. At the close of business yesterday, 300 shares at Lm3.702 were the best unsatisfied bids, while 350 shares at Lm3.995 were the best offers still outstanding.

Following are other equities which traded during the week: 9,066 shares in International Hotels Investments struck at Lm0.85; 800 shares in FIMBank struck at $1.25; 200 shares in Middlesea Insurance struck at Lm2; 3,562 shares in Simonds Farsons Cisk plc struck between Lm0.65 and Lm0.67 and 12,200 shares in GloBAl Financial Services Group struck between Lm0.13 and Lm0.131.

Trading over the week in corporate bonds was made up of the following:

¤ One deal struck in the 6.15 per cent Bank of Valletta 2010, in which a nominal value of Lm1,000 changed hands at Lm103.

¤ One deal struck in the 6.5 per cent CC Car Parks 2006, in which a nominal value of Lm3,200 changed hands at Lm102.50.

¤ One deal struck in the 6.7 per cent Corinthia Finance 2009, in which a nominal value of Lm300 changed hands at Lm102.40.

¤ Seven deals struck in the 6.75 per cent Corinthia Finance 2012, in which a nominal value of Lm14,800 changed hands at Lm102.50.

¤ Three deals struck in the 6.7 per cent Mizzi Organisation Finance 2009/12, in which a nominal value of Lm6,000 changed hands at Lm101.50.

¤ Three deals struck in the 6.25 per cent Simonds Farsons Cisk 2006/8, in which a nominal value of Lm900 changed hands at Lm102.

¤ Four deals struck in the 6.6 per cent Simonds Farsons Cisk 2010/12, in which a nominal value of Lm4,600 changed hands between Lm102.60 and Lm102.76.

¤ Two deals struck in the 6.7 per cent Tumas Investments 2010/12, in which a nominal value of Lm1,500 changed hands at Lm101.25 and Lm101.01.

¤ One deal struck in the 6.75 per cent United Finance 2008, in which a nominal value of Lm2,500 changed hands at Lm102.85.

Total Malta Government Stock turnover over the week amounted to a nominal value of Lm96,100, being struck in 22 deals over 13 different stocks.

The Malta Stock Exchange Share Index increased by 3.481 points over the week, equal to 0.19 per cent, and now stands at 1,862.075.
