Eden Leisure's SuperBowl recently hosted a visiting group from the Famagusta Bowling Federation of Cyprus. Along with a number of local top players, they took part in a series of inter-island competitions - singles, doubles and four-man team.

It was Malta all the way in the singles event, played on a scratch basis over six games.

National champion Sue Abela topped the male-dominated field with a total of 1,278 (213 average). Raymond Falzon was second, on 1,226 pins, ahead of Kenneth Arpa (1,182).

Famagusta BF's highest placing was seventh.

Next up was the team contest, with the hosts fielding six sides against the visitors' three in a three-game series.

Aercomms, made up of Brian Vella, Clive Farrugia, Paul Baldacchino and Raymond Falzon, topped the standings after rolling an excellent 2,381, 63 pins better than second-placed Malta Team which comprised Amanda Cini, Colin Attard, Dennis Mercieca and Sue Abela.

Fina Excel (Bertram Vella, Brian Farrugia, Jackie Azzopardi and Leli Baldacchino) was third just two pins ahead of Cyprus A (2,273).

Malta's superiority continued as 19 teams - six from Cyprus and 13 local - lined up for the doubles competition.

After the six-game set it was 'Malta 13', the team of Dennis Mercieca and Kenneth Arpa, that took the honours with 2,384 pins.

Maltese teams filled the first six places in the final doubles rankings with the best Famagusta BF team placing seventh.
