The Guard and Warden Service House Ltd last month celebrated the fifth anniversary of the introduction of the Local Enforcement System by the various local councils in Malta and Gozo.

Mayors, executive secretaries together with the local wardens and other distinguished guests were witness to the first presentation of certificates to eight local wardens who were promoted to Officers.

Deputy Prime Minister Tonio Borg explained the development process over the five years and augured well that the agency, which was once again awarded a five-year contract, will have new opportunities in relation to enforcement of environmental issues and speed cameras, which were recently introduced.

Such opportunities will mean further training and new opportunities for local wardens, he said.

The newly promoted officers are W113 Antoine Grech, W290 Josef Attard, W323 Romina Libreri, W245 Carlos Sultana, W254 Sandro Muscat, W171 Joseph Bonello, W272 Tania Schembri and W046 Aldo Cauchi. They have all taken up the post of field officers in the various districts operated by the Guard & Warden Service House Ltd.

Dr Ian Micallef, president of the Local Councils Association, distributed achievement awards and recognition awards on behalf of the agency. He also thanked the local wardens for their service.

A cocktail party was held at the Coastline Suite where all present enjoyed a pleasant evening in a relaxed atmosphere.
