These are the main stories appearing in today's local newspapers.

Times of Malta reports that the government is not following recommendations by the National Audit Office and the Attorney General that legal proceedings should be instituted against the General Workers’ Union for breach of contract over its Valletta headquarters. In its secondary story it reports that the ‘Love, Faith, Forgiveness’ project, which is behind the voluntary scheme that left prisoners owed thousands of euros for their work, is not backed by an organisation that is a registered NGO as required by law.

L-Orizzont reports that around 200 Maltese workers had lost their jobs as a result of the decrease in oil prices. It also reports that a migrant boat had capsized off Libya as arrivals from the North African country had increased by around 80 per cent.

The Malta Independent says that the Prime Minister had failed to condemn the criminal defamation case against Nationalist MP Jason Azzopardi. It also carries a picture of 11 Scots who were charged in court after causing a disturbance on board a flight.

In-Nazzjon quotes the European People's Party president Manfred Weber saying that Maltese democracy was under threat in the wake of the court case against Nationalist MP Jason Azzopardi. It also says that motorists were still being fleeced for their petrol and diesel purchases despite a decrease in prices.
