Maltese composer Philip Attard has been accepted into the Belgian Performing Rights Society of Composers and Authors. His membership was decided by the commission and board of directors in their most recent meeting.

The composer started writing music in his mid-teens and his first composition was a sorrowful bagatelle for piano called Angel's Song, written for his youngest sister Sonia who lived for only three days. It forms part of a collection of 15 bagatelles entitled Tonalis.

Among Mr Attard's most acclaimed works are the Suite for Orchestra in four movements Opus 20, the Piano Concerto in three movements Opus 77 and a work in 12 movements for large-scale orchestra entitled Symphonic Sketches Opus 60.

Mr Attard lives and works in his hometown of Żebbuġ and is a Fellow and gold medallist in music composition of the renowned Victoria College of Music in London, UK. For more information, visit www.philipattard.com.
