Various local organisations are appealing for people to help the Haiti earthquake victims.

The Civil Protection Department is collecting blankets, clothes, medicine, canned food or drinking water at the department's Humanitarian Aid section, Shipwrights Wharf, Marsa, (behind Marsovin Ltd) or at the CPD fire station at the Gozo Heliport, today from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. The CPD is also accepting donations for the Albania floods.

Alternatively, funds may be transferred electronically to one of the following bank accounts: BoV 400 1875 8443 or HSBC 0780 0239 1050.

Readers may also send their donations through Caritas Malta. Send a cheque payable to 'Caritas Haiti Fund' to Caritas Malta, 5 Lion Street, Floriana FRN 1514, or transfer funds electronically to one of the following bank accounts: APS 200 0088 7495, BoV 400 1876 1294 or HSBC 0890 2151 3051.

Donations may also be sent to Fr Eric Cachia, Salesian Oratory, 20, Karm Galea Street, Sliema, or transferred electronically to the Salesians' 'Emergency Haiti' account at HSBC 0851 1199 5050.
