An exhibition of oils on canvas by Ljupco Samardziski is being hosted by the Parliamentary Secretariat for Tourism, the Environment and Culture and the Malta Tourism Authority at the Auberge D'Italie.

The Exhibition will be inaugurated by the Parliamentary Secretary Mario De Marco on June 3 till June 25.

This exhibition titled Yesterday, is the first in a series of exhibitions being held to celebrate 45 years of creativity both as painter and as a musician and composer. Following this inaugural exhibition the paintings will be presented in overseas galleries in the ex-Yugoslav countries and in a number of other European countries, where Mr Samardziski has presented his works and has been lauded as a musician, composer and painter.

The 70 paintings which will be on show are mostly inspired by the music of great composers like Mozart, Vivaldi, Beethoven, Bach and especially for this occasion Chopin, as 2010 is the bicentenary of Chopin’s birth. Other works derive inspiration from the more commercial old time favourite tunes such as My Way and Ode to Joy and have been created over the past 12 years, with the past two years being the most productive.

Mr Samardziski states that, “With every painting I hope to craft some kind of individual story of my own; seduced as I am by the endless possibilities of paint. Just as the writer searches for the ideal word and the musician for the ideal melody or note to express their feelings, so the painter searches for that colour which will serve as an expression of the innermost aspects of his or her soul.

“Music, poetry, drama, literature and all the other forms of art originate from a common global aura that encapsulates artistic feeling. I believe, that this aura does not just inspire the artists, but holds them in believing that the ideal can be realised. That is the power of word from the theatre stage, of music, painting and art.”

Over the years, works by Mr Samardziski have received glowing reviews in a number of publications and he has developed a loyal following of collectors.
