Priests and those who choose to dedicate their lives to Jesus Christ will take centre stage and be called to renew their baptismal promises as Maundy Thursday's Chrism Mass is celebrated.

The Mass, which is one of the most important of the Liturgical year, is named for the blessing of the holy oils used in the sacraments throughout the year.

Chrism is another name for myrrh, the consecrating oil used in baptisms, confirmations and holy orders.

Oils blessed during the Mass are used to administer sacraments throughout the year, until the following Maundy Thursday.
