The government will this week be moving a Parliamentary resolution for the ratification of the Lisbon Treaty, the Leader of the House, Tonio Borg, told the House Business Committee yesterday.

Dr Borg said the government wanted to see the ratification process concluded this month.

He said the resolution would be debated by the European and Foreign Affairs Committee, probably on January 22 and it would then be moved to the full House, where the debate should start on January 23 or January 28.

He said the other items on the agenda of the House, which should also ideally be approved this month, were the Consumer Affairs (Amendment) Bill, the Malta Transport Authority (Amendment) Bill and a resolution related to merchant shipping.

Dr Borg said he had also moved the first reading of a Bill to Amend the Civil Code.
